Man Escapes Mississippi Jail, Captured in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man believed to have made a daring escape from a correctional facility in Mississippi was apprehended in Memphis on Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) reported that officers responded to a call just before 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of North White Station Road and Summer Avenue, situated on the east side of the city. They were on the lookout for an individual who had managed to flee from a jail in Mississippi. The exact location of the escape remains undisclosed.

Upon arriving at the scene in East Memphis, law enforcement officers spotted the fugitive, who promptly attempted to flee on foot. However, officers successfully apprehended him shortly afterwards. The specific location of his capture was not immediately disclosed.

MPD stated that the man was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention. Fortunately, his condition was determined to be non-critical.

An arrest affidavit revealed that the escaped inmate has been identified as 47-year-old William Strohm. The document alleges that he fled from the pursuing officers just as they were about to place him in handcuffs. Subsequently, he was discovered hiding between a retaining wall on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40, close to the Summer Avenue exit.

In a daring escape, a man suspected of breaking out of a correctional facility in Mississippi was apprehended in Memphis on Friday afternoon. The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a call just before 2:30 p.m. in the area of North White Station Road and Summer Avenue, situated on the east side of the city, where they were searching for an individual who had managed to flee from a Mississippi jail.
