According to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Deogarh Division, Dhanajaya Magar, Kirtan was on his way to the nearby forest area when he unexpectedly encountered the tusker on the village road, specifically from the Pallahara Telkoi side.

Magar further explained, “The tusker has been spotted in the forests of Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Deogarh Divisional areas over the past few months. It appears to have become separated from its herd and is now wandering across these three divisional areas.”

Efforts are being made by forest officials to safely drive the elephant out of the area, stated the DFO, who also assured that compensation formalities for the deceased will be completed on Tuesday.
