32-Year-Old Man Faces Murder Charges for Alleged Beating in Boulder County Home

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A 32-year-old man is facing possible murder charges after allegedly beating a 60-year-old man in his home in Boulder County last week. The incident occurred at a residence located just outside the Longmont city limits, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).

Emergency services were called to the victim’s home on Portico Lane for medical assistance shortly after midnight on December 19. When first responders arrived, they discovered the victim suffering from severe injuries caused by blunt force trauma, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

Authorities identified Michael Lucky, aged 32, as a potential suspect and initiated an intensive search. It is believed that Lucky specifically targeted the victim.

During the search, Lucky’s vehicle was found on a neighboring street. The sheriff’s office consequently issued an Everbridge alert to nearby residents, urging them to remain indoors while law enforcement continued their search for the suspect.

However, Lucky later turned himself in at the sheriff’s office headquarters, bringing an end to the search efforts.

The victim was immediately rushed to a hospital and subsequently transferred to a trauma center via helicopter, where he remained until his passing on Christmas Eve. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.

Initially, Lucky was booked into the Boulder County jail on charges of attempted murder and other related offenses. However, following the victim’s death, the sheriff’s office is now collaborating with the district attorney’s office to upgrade the charges to murder.

The sheriff’s office revealed that Lucky had been out on bond for a previous case involving the victim’s daughter at the time of the attack. Court records indicate that Lucky had been charged with domestic violence in November, as well as violating a protection order and stalking earlier this month.

Lucky is currently being held in the Boulder County jail on a cash-only bond of $1 million.
