Accident – death – Obituary News : In a tragic incident that occurred on March 31, 2000, Rachel Siani, a 21-year-old college student and dance club worker, was brutally murdered in Burlington, NJ. Her body was discovered the following day underneath a bridge by an ATV rider. Initially, police suspected suicide, but evidence quickly ruled out this possibility.

Rachel’s boyfriend identified her body based on the description released to the public and the silver butterfly necklace she often wore. It was determined that Rachel had not walked to the edge of the bridge herself, as the bottom of her socks were clean. Additionally, her shoes were missing, and clothing fibers found on the bridge matched those of the sweater she was wearing on the night she disappeared.

An autopsy revealed that Rachel had suffered from burst blood vessels in her eyes and face, indicating strangulation or choking. She had multiple bone fractures, including on her leg, ribs, shoulder, pelvis, jaw, and skull. The force of her fall was so severe that her body left an indentation in the earth beneath her.

Further investigation led the police to a man named John “Jack” Denofa, a regular patron at the club where Rachel worked. Denofa had a reputation for spending excessive amounts of time and money at the club, often doting on Rachel with large sums of cash. On the night of the murder, Rachel offered to walk Denofa to his motel room and ensure his safety.

It is believed that once they arrived at the motel room, Denofa made sexual advances towards Rachel, which she rejected. In response, he strangled her until she lost consciousness and then threw her into the back of his truck. Denofa drove her unconscious body to the bridge where she was later found. Investigators obtained tollbooth footage showing Rachel’s body in the back of Denofa’s pickup truck.

Despite Denofa’s attempts to clean his truck, specks of blood and strands of hair were discovered in the underbody, linking him to the crime. He was subsequently arrested and, in 2002, found guilty of Rachel’s murder. Denofa was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
