Tragic Accident in Dadri: Two Sisters Killed in House Collapse, Four Labourers Injured

House Collapse in Dadri

NOIDA: In a heartbreaking incident, two young sisters, aged three and five, lost their lives in a tragic house collapse in Dadri on Sunday evening. The incident occurred during repair work at a house, resulting in the collapse of two floors. Additionally, four labourers who were carrying out the construction work sustained severe injuries and are currently in critical condition.

The incident took place in Samadhipur, Dadri, where Lal Singh, a farmer, was getting the terrace of his two-storey house repaired. At around 4pm, the terrace suddenly gave way while the labourers were placing a new layer of bricks on it. As a result, the debris landed on the first floor, causing it to collapse under the immense weight.

Tragically, Lal Singh’s granddaughters, three-year-old Reeva and five-year-old Jeeva, were playing in the ground-floor drawing room at the time of the incident and were buried under the rubble. Singh and other family members were outside in the courtyard enjoying the sunshine.

The four construction workers who were working on the terrace at the time of the collapse were identified as Rajveer (45), Vinod (43), Sanjeev (35), and Pankaj (23), all residents of Samadhipur. They also fell with the debris and suffered serious injuries.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team along with an ambulance rushed to the scene. The two sisters and the injured labourers were rescued from the rubble and immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the young girls were declared dead on arrival. The injured labourers were later transferred to GIMS (Government Institute of Medical Sciences) as their condition worsened. Doctors attending to them stated that they had sustained critical injuries and were undergoing treatment.

The police are currently awaiting a formal complaint from the family, who were occupied with the cremation of the two sisters. Additional investigation will be conducted to determine if there was any negligence in carrying out the construction work.

It is noteworthy that Noida and Greater Noida have witnessed several incidents of roof collapses in recent years, resulting in loss of lives. On July 12, heavy rain triggered the collapse of a single-storey house in Jewar, leading to the death of a 42-year-old man and injuries to his wife and son. In September 2020, a boundary wall in Jal Vayu Vihar collapsed on a group of construction workers, resulting in the death of four workers and injuries to eight others. Similarly, in July 2018, a six-storey building in Shahberi village, Greater Noida, collapsed, claiming the lives of 10 people and injuring more than a dozen.
