Police Identify Murder Suspect Following Targeted Shooting at Ocala Mall

Authorities have identified the suspect involved in a targeted shooting at Paddock Mall in Ocala, Florida, which resulted in one fatality and another individual being injured. The Ocala Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Albert J Shell Jr. The suspect is wanted for premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder. However, Shell Jr. remains at large, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to his arrest.

In an effort to encourage cooperation, the police have increased the reward for information on the suspect from $3,000 to $5,000. They are urging anyone with relevant details to come forward.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3:40 pm on Saturday, and the suspect was captured on surveillance cameras. The Ocala Police Department released three photos of a person of interest, described as a Black male dressed in all black attire, white sneakers, and a red cap.

During a press conference on Saturday evening, the police stated that the shooting was a targeted act and the victim who died was the intended target. The suspect managed to escape the mall undetected after the incident.

While the manhunt for the suspect is ongoing, the victim who tragically lost his life has been identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron. The police expressed their deepest condolences to the families affected by this incident and assured them that they are committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice.

The shooting also left another individual with a gunshot wound to the leg. The injured victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

In addition, the police issued a warning to an individual who allegedly took the suspect’s red hat from the crime scene. They emphasized that the hat could contain crucial DNA evidence and urged the person to come forward immediately. If the hat is not returned within the next few hours, the police have stated that they will release the individual’s picture to the media and social media platforms, leading to an arrest on a felony charge of tampering with evidence.
