Teenagers Allegedly Stab Man to death in Delhi’s Nizamuddin

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death in Nizamuddin by a group of teenagers seeking revenge for a sexual assault. The suspects, who are residents of Nizamuddin Basti, went to extreme lengths to destroy the evidence, disfiguring the victim’s face with stones and setting his body on fire.

The three suspects, aged 16 and 17, have been taken into custody and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. They have since been sent to a shelter home. The Delhi Police received information about the apprehension of the suspects on Saturday. The trio confessed to murdering the man, identified as Azad, and led the police to the crime scene in Khusro Park, where the half-burnt body was discovered.

Rajesh Deo, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East), stated, “During interrogation, the minors claimed that Azad, who had a reputation as a ‘bad character,’ had sexually assaulted one of them on multiple occasions. It was on Thursday night that the three teenagers ganged up and brutally assaulted and murdered Azad.”

The suspects attempted to burn the body using dry grass and clothes to eliminate any evidence and hide the identity of the deceased. The police have recovered a khukri-type weapon, stones, and a wooden staff that were used in the commission of the crime.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and further investigation is underway.
