Paud Police Face Challenges as Criminal Unleashes Pitbull to Evade Arrest

Pune, Maharashtra: On Sunday, a Paud police team encountered difficulties when a notorious criminal released his pet pitbull to deter them and avoid capture.

The suspect, 32-year-old Mangesh Palve from Rihe village in Mulshi taluka, resorted to extreme measures by breaking the windowpanes of his house and smashing a beer bottle on his head. Ultimately, he surrendered when he realized that the police were prepared to use force.

Assistant Inspector Sudhir Kadam of the Paud police informed TOI, “Palve was presented before the court on Sunday and has been remanded in police custody until Tuesday.” Kadam revealed that Palve had previous cases of murder, attempted murder, and illegal firearms possession registered against him with the Pimpri Chinchwad police. Additionally, he had been previously booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act and was out on bail.

The police received information on Saturday that Palve had robbed an individual from Rihe of Rs11,000 at gunpoint. Acting on this tip-off, the police went to his house on Sunday morning to make the arrest. However, Palve unleashed his aggressive pitbull, preventing the police team from entering his house. The police then planned to summon a forest department team to tranquilize the dog, but they managed to apprehend Palve around 11 am.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Palve had committed another robbery and assaulted an individual with a sharp weapon on Saturday. A separate case of attempted murder is currently being registered against him.
