The Abia Police Command in Umuahia has successfully rescued all four missing children who were allegedly stolen. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, the children, aged between three and six years old, were reported missing by one of the mothers on December 16. However, two of the children were rescued on December 22, while the remaining two were rescued on Sunday.

In a statement to journalists, Ms Chinaka revealed that the police apprehended a 35-year-old female named Ifeoma Abonyi in Asaba, Delta State. Abonyi, who was previously an unidentified tenant, is believed to be responsible for the abduction of the four children. The police have also arrested eight other suspects, consisting of five females and three males, who are currently assisting with the investigation.

While three other individuals suspected to be involved in the crime are still at large, the police are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend them. In the meantime, the investigation is ongoing to determine the true identities of six other children found in the custody of the arrested suspects. DNA tests may be conducted as some of the suspects claim that the children are their biological offspring.
