AUSTIN, Texas — Deputies in Bastrop County Engage in Shooting Incident

A shooting incident involving deputies in Bastrop County unfolded over the weekend, leaving the community on edge and raising concerns about public safety.

According to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the incident took place on Saturday evening, shortly after 10 p.m., at a residence located near FM 969 in Bastrop. A female resident of the house managed to escape and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house, where she promptly reported the alarming incident to the authorities.

Responding promptly to the distress call, two units from the BCSO arrived at the scene just after 10:30 p.m. However, as they approached, the suspect, later identified as 61-year-old Seth Thomas Robertson, opened fire, endangering the lives of the deputies.

Reacting swiftly to defend themselves and the public, the deputies returned fire. Uncertain whether their shots had hit Robertson, additional reinforcements were summoned to the scene. As more deputies arrived, Robertson ominously raised his arms, seemingly preparing to unleash a fresh wave of gunfire. Without hesitation, the deputies discharged their weapons, striking Robertson twice and successfully subduing him. He was then immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

Fortunately, all four deputies involved in the intense encounter emerged unscathed physically. However, as per standard protocol, they have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the incident.
