Tragic Death at Daly City BART Station Parking Garage Investigated by Authorities

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, BART police and first responders rushed to the Daly City station’s parking garage in response to a distressing report of an unconscious individual. Tragically, upon their arrival, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was subsequently released to the San Mateo County coroner’s office for further investigation. While the circumstances surrounding the death are currently under scrutiny, foul play is not initially suspected, according to the authorities.

The deceased has been identified as Kelvin Kamau, a 28-year-old resident of Hayward, according to a county coroner’s deputy who provided the information on Tuesday morning.

It is worth noting that BART police arrest logs reveal that an individual with a similar name and age to Kelvin Kamau had previously been arrested. On December 1, shortly before 9:50 p.m., this person was found unresponsive on a West Oakland BART station platform, resulting in their arrest on a warrant and involuntary hold. Moreover, on December 10, around 2 a.m., they were arrested again at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station’s bus zone, this time in connection with another warrant.

Regrettably, this incident adds to the list of fatalities that have occurred on BART throughout the year, with many of them linked to drug overdoses. In fact, just before Thanksgiving, two similar cases were reported, shedding light on the concerning trend.
