Tragic Accident in Jammu and Kashmir: Two Dead, Several Injured as Wedding Party Vehicle Falls into Gorge

JAMMU: In a heart-wrenching incident, a vehicle carrying a wedding party met with a fatal accident in a remote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district early Monday morning. The unfortunate incident claimed the lives of two individuals, including a 17-year-old boy, while at least 12 others sustained injuries.

The incident occurred when the passengers were returning from a wedding in Balmatkote to their native village, Badar. According to Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Pal Mahajan, the driver lost control of the Eeco van, causing it to skid off the road and plunge into a gorge near Dhamini Chassana area in Reasi at around 6 am.

As soon as the accident took place, a rescue operation was launched immediately. Unfortunately, one passenger identified as Mohammad Ashraf (25) was found dead at the spot. Another passenger, Mohammad Tahir (17), succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Both the deceased individuals were residents of Mahore, Reasi.

Authorities rushed the injured individuals to Reasi district hospital, where four critically wounded victims were later shifted to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment. From GMC Rajouri, two children were further transferred to Jammu for advanced medical care, informed Deputy Commissioner Mahajan.

The police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the accident.
