Two Arrested for Brutal Murder and Assault in Jodhpur Village

Jodhpur, Dec 24 (PTI) – In a shocking incident that has shaken the village of Lamba in the Bilara area, two individuals have been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman and the assault of two others, including a one-year-old girl. The incident occurred on Saturday night when the accused entered the house of Mahendra, a truck driver, with the intention of robbery, according to the police.
The Tragic Incident
The unfortunate incident unfolded around 10.30 pm on Saturday, while Mahendra and his family were attending a nearby wedding function, leaving his wife Anjali (27) alias Anju alone in the house with her one-year-old daughter, Kavya, and niece, Kusum alias Khushi (12). The accused, whose motive was robbery, encountered unexpected resistance when Anju woke up and recognized them. Realizing that their plan was compromised, the criminals resorted to extreme violence.
A Horrific Crime
As Anju raised an alarm, the attackers seized her and mercilessly slit her throat with a knife, causing fatal injuries. In the meantime, Kusum, in a desperate attempt to seek help, rushed to the roof and shouted for assistance. However, the criminals quickly apprehended her and launched a brutal assault on both Kusum and little Kavya, leaving them injured and traumatized.
Swift Response and Rescue Efforts
After the assailants fled the scene, Kusum immediately contacted her grandfather, who promptly informed the police. A police team swiftly arrived at the location and expedited the transfer of all three victims to the hospital. Tragically, Anju was declared brought dead upon arrival, while both Kusum and Kavya were referred to a hospital in Jodhpur for further medical attention.
Arrest of the Culprits
The accused perpetrators, identified as Anil (20) and Sahil Khan (19), were residents of the same neighborhood as the victims. The police launched an intensive search operation and successfully apprehended the suspects early Sunday morning from their respective residences.
