One killed and eight injured in road accident near Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 24 (PTI) – A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening near Mardala on the Dharmasthala-Subramanya state highway, resulting in one fatality and eight individuals sustaining injuries. According to police sources, the collision took place when an Omni van collided head-on with a car at a sharp curve on the road.

The ill-fated Omni van was transporting pilgrims from Dharmasthala to Subramanya, while the car was travelling in the opposite direction. Tragically, the collision proved fatal for the van’s driver, identified as Ravi, a 53-year-old hotel owner from Somwarpet.

Following the accident, the injured victims were promptly rushed to the government hospital at Puttur for medical treatment. The local authorities have registered a case in relation to the incident.
