According to police sources, Yerunkar was targeted with ten rounds of gunshots. The police are currently investigating whether the assailants fired in self-defense or if they were the initial aggressors. The injured individuals were immediately rushed to Sion Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. The police believe that the motive behind the shooting was a personal rivalry.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary confirmed the incident, stating that Sumit Yerunkar was killed and three others were injured in the shooting. He assured that the injured individuals are stable and that the police have identified the suspects. A total of nine police teams have been formed to search for the assailants. The exact reason for the shooting is believed to be a personal dispute.

The incident has left the entire locality in shock, with residents reluctant to provide any information about the shooting. Witnesses reported that the area was crowded when the gunshots rang out, causing panic and chaos. The police suspect that the assailants were once associated with the Yerunkar gang but split due to personal differences.

A senior police officer stated that the motive behind the killing will become clearer once the assailants are apprehended. A case of murder under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act has been registered against the suspects. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to trace the escape route taken by the assailants after the shooting.
