Two Arrested in Greenbrier County for Child Overdose
GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVDN) – In a shocking incident, two individuals identified as Kaenon L. Hundley, 26, and Ireland Keen, 24, both residents of Fairlea, have been apprehended in relation to a distressing case of child overdose. The unfortunate incident occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, December 22, 2023, when the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department received a distressing call from a local hospital. The call reported a 2-year-old child who had allegedly suffered from an overdose. The child had been swiftly transported to the emergency room by EMS personnel and had received naloxone twice during the transport. Admitted to the hospital, the child’s condition necessitated the possibility of being transferred to another medical facility.
A Search Warrant Yields Disturbing Evidence
Following the child’s admission to the hospital, members of the Sheriff’s Department diligently pursued the case. Eventually, they obtained a search warrant for a room at a local motel where the child had been residing with their parents. The executed search warrant uncovered a distressing scene, with illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia seized from the premises. The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit meticulously processed the room, gathering critical evidence to support the case.
Arrests Made and Charges Filed
In light of the alarming evidence found in the motel room, both parents, identified as Kaenon L. Hundley, aged 26, and Ireland Keen, aged 24, were promptly arrested. The charges brought against them include one count each of Child Neglect with Risk of Death or Serious Bodily Injury. Deputy Tyler Cutlip, from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, has taken the lead in investigating this devastating incident.
Legal Consequences
Currently, both Kaenon L. Hundley and Ireland Keen find themselves remanded in Southern Regional Jail. The bail for their release has been set at a substantial amount of $25,000, payable only in cash.
