Tragic Accident in Jessore: Train Collides with Truck, Killing Driver and Helper

In a devastating incident that occurred on Sunday morning, a cargo truck was hit by a Khulna-bound “Rocket Mail” train in Jessore, resulting in the death of the truck’s driver and helper.
The victims have been identified as Parvez, the driver, and Nazmul, his assistant. Both hailed from the Jhenidah district.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragic accident took place around 5:30 am at the Churamankati railway crossing in Jessore. The area was engulfed in heavy fog, making visibility extremely poor.
The truck, loaded with goods, was en route from Moheshpur to Jashore when the collision occurred. It is believed that the accident happened due to the absence of a crossing barrier on the rail line.
Locals speculated that the on-duty employee responsible for operating the crossing was asleep at the time of the incident. This negligence is likely to have contributed to the collision.
The authorities were alerted, and the truck was promptly removed from the accident site. The bodies of the deceased were sent to Jessore General Hospital for further examination and autopsy.
The Kotwali Model Police Station’s officer in charge (OC), Abdur Razzak, confirmed the retrieval of the truck and the transportation of the victims’ bodies to the hospital.
