Tragedy Strikes as Woman Is killed by Brother-in-Law in Madhya Pradesh

Ratlam: In a horrifying incident that has shocked the nation, a 33-year-old woman has tragically lost her life after being allegedly set ablaze by her brother-in-law in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused, identified as Suresh, 40, has been apprehended and charged with murder. This gruesome incident unfolded in broad daylight on Saturday in Dhodhar village, Ratlam district.

The Accused Blames the Woman for Her Brother-in-Law’s death

The motive behind this heinous crime is said to be the recent suicide of Suresh’s younger brother, Prakash. Suresh unjustifiably held his sister-in-law, Nirmala, responsible for the tragedy. On the fateful day, the accused allegedly attacked Nirmala with a rod, forcibly dragged her out of the house, doused her in petrol, and set her on fire. As a result, the victim suffered severe burn injuries and tragically succumbed to her wounds on the spot, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Kumar Lodha stated, according to news agency PTI.

The police further revealed that Nirmala’s husband had taken his own life six months ago. Suresh had been blaming his sister-in-law for his younger brother’s death ever since. In the aftermath of her husband’s demise, the victim had been living with her two children in her in-laws’ home in Dhodhar village.

A Chilling Phone Call Forewarned the Tragedy

Speaking to reporters, Nirmala’s brother revealed the chilling details of a phone call he received from Suresh on the day of the incident. The accused informed him that he intended to set his sister on fire. Nirmala’s brother alleged that Suresh had been consistently blaming her for Prakash’s death and had even threatened to kill her. He further disclosed that he had planned to bring her back home on the day of the incident, but was shocked when Suresh called him to inform him of his sinister intentions.

This appalling incident has sent shockwaves across the community, highlighting the need for stricter measures to prevent such acts of violence. The police have taken swift action by arresting the accused and charging him with murder. The authorities must now ensure that justice is served and that such tragic incidents are not repeated in the future.
