25-Year-Old Man Brutally Assaulted and Burnt to Death in Southeast Delhi

A shocking incident unfolded in Southeast Delhi where a 25-year-old man lost his life after being brutally assaulted and partially burnt by a group of three teenagers. The police have apprehended the teenagers, and during the investigation, one of them claimed that the deceased had made repeated attempts to sexually assault him. Seeking revenge, the trio decided to kill the man.

The Gruesome Discovery

The partially burnt body of the victim, identified as Azad Ahmad, was discovered in a park located in the Nizamuddin Basti area on Saturday. According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday night when the teenagers lured Ahmad to the Nizamuddin Basti area. Subsequently, they stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his untimely demise.

Attempting to eliminate any evidence, the assailants then tried to burn Ahmad’s body by covering it with dry leaves, as revealed by the police.

Apprehension of the Culprits

On Saturday, the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) staff noticed the suspicious behavior of three teenagers near Khusro Park. They apprehended the boys and questioned them about their activities. Aged between 16 and 17 years, the boys confessed to the murder and guided the police to the park where the gruesome incident took place.

Rajesh Deo, DCP (Southeast), stated that upon reaching the park, the investigating officer recovered the partially burnt body. The body was then sent to AIIMS for further examination, and an investigation was initiated. The police confiscated all the weapons used in the crime, including a sharp-edged weapon, stones, and sticks.

Deo further explained, “The juvenile boys admitted to killing Azad two days ago because he had repeatedly attempted to sexually assault one of them. In order to seek revenge, they brutally assaulted and murdered him. They also made an attempt to destroy evidence by burning the body with the help of dry grass and clothes.” The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the case.

The Deceased’s Criminal Past

According to the police, Azad Ahmad had a criminal record in the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station area. He was known as a “bad character” and had previous cases lodged against him for assault and robberies.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and raises concerns about the safety and security of individuals in the area.
