18-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Stoughton Daytime Shooting

STOUGHTON, Mass. – In a shocking turn of events, an 18-year-old named Marc Francois from Stoughton has been arrested in connection with a daytime shooting that took place on Saturday. The incident reportedly involved a Rhode Island man whom Francois had arranged to meet, according to the police.

On Saturday, December 23, officers responded to a shots fired incident in the vicinity of Central Street and Greenwood Avenue in Stoughton. Upon their arrival, they spotted a man leaving the area. It was later confirmed that this individual was the suspect, Dreancois, who was found at a nearby condominium complex with a firearm.

Meanwhile, another man had admitted himself to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro after sustaining a gunshot wound. It was determined that he had been shot in Stoughton, further linking Francois to the crime.

As a result of these developments, Francois is now facing multiple charges, including assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, disorderly conduct, and armed robbery.

Authorities have stressed that this shooting was not a random act of violence, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted to gather more information about the incident.

Following his arrest, Francois was held on $500,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at the Stoughton District Court.
