Man Apprehended in Everett for Murder in East Boston

EVERETT, MA – In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation, Edwin Mendez Hernandez, a 20-year-old resident of Everett, was apprehended by the Fugitive Unit on Friday morning. Hernandez had been wanted by the East Boston District Court on murder charges related to the untimely demise of Wilfredo Landaverde Arevalo, a 34-year-old Medford resident.

The incident under investigation unfolded on the morning of Friday, December 15, when officers from District A-7 (East Boston) swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a stabbing at 186 Gove Street at approximately 6:39 AM.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a critically injured adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, later identified as Mr. Arevalo, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where despite medical efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
