The Auraiya police revealed that Mukesh Kumar joined the police force on compassionate grounds in 2018-19. Tragically, he misused his position of power to exploit the woman. According to the police, the officer maintained regular contact with the victim, both through phone calls and personal meetings, under the pretense of helping her. However, instead of providing support, he subjected her to sexual harassment at various locations.

Adding to the victim’s trauma, the accused sub-inspector, who was already married, deceived her with false promises of marriage, further violating her trust and dignity.

Upon receiving the woman’s complaint, Auraiya Superintendent of Police, Charu Nigam, swiftly took action. Following a preliminary inquiry, Mukesh Kumar was suspended, and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him.

Charu Nigam stated, “Mukesh Kumar has been booked on charges of rape. The victim is currently undergoing a medical examination, and her statement will be recorded before the magistrate.”

On Friday, the accused was presented before a local court in Auraiya, which remanded him in judicial custody.

Despite being transferred to another police station in August, the sub-inspector continued to harass the woman, intensifying her distress and sense of helplessness.
