A homeowner has been taken into custody after the discovery of a woman’s lifeless body inside the trunk of a car amidst a house fire in Lancaster.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department promptly responded to a distress call reporting a house fire in the 41400 block of 38th Street West on December 20. The skilled firefighters efficiently extinguished the blaze engulfing the residence and subsequently turned their attention to the three vehicles stationed on the property.

During their thorough inspection, one of the diligent firefighters made a shocking discovery – the lifeless body of a woman concealed within the trunk of one of the cars. This grim revelation prompted an immediate death investigation to be initiated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The alleged suspect in the woman’s death, identified as Matthew Switalski, is the homeowner and was subsequently apprehended. LASD’s press release on December 22 confirmed that Switalski has been charged with murder.
