On Thursday, a group of three to four heavily-armed terrorists launched an attack on a Maruti Gypsy and an Army truck in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in a tragic loss of lives.

Poonch: Following the deadly encounter between terrorists and the Army, three men were found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday near the site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. This incident occurred a day after five brave soldiers lost their lives and two others were injured. The state government has ordered a comprehensive probe into the matter and has also announced compensation for the families of the deceased.

In addition, the government has pledged compassionate appointments for the next of kin of each deceased individual.

“Yesterday, three civilians were reported dead in Baffliaz of Poonch District. The necessary medico-legal procedures were carried out, and legal action has been initiated by the appropriate authority. The government has announced compensation for each of the deceased,” stated the Divisional Commissioner Jammu in a communication posted on X.

The three deceased individuals were among the eight people taken into custody by the Army for questioning in relation to Thursday’s attack at Dhatyar Morh, situated between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz, under the jurisdiction of the Surankote police station, officials informed PTI.

The deceased have been identified as Safeer Hussain (43), Mohammad Showket (27), and Shabir Ahmad (32), all residents of Topa Peer village in Bufliaz. They tragically lost their lives under mysterious circumstances, and the exact cause of their deaths remains unknown at this time.

Four Soldiers Martyred

During the attack on Thursday, a group of three to four heavily-armed terrorists specifically targeted a Maruti Gypsy and an Army truck, resulting in the loss of five soldiers’ lives and injuries to two others. Shockingly, following the assault, the terrorists mutilated the bodies of at least two soldiers and seized their weapons.

“At approximately 3:45 PM on 21 December, two army vehicles transporting troops were moving towards the operational site when they came under terrorist fire. Our troops immediately retaliated,” stated the Army in an official statement.

The fallen soldiers have been identified as Naik Birendra Singh, Naik Karan Kumar, Rifleman Chandan Kumar, and Rifleman Gautam Kumar.

Furthermore, three soldiers sustained injuries during the attack and were promptly evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. The injured soldiers are Signalman Sundaeep Kumar, Rifleman Shyam Sundar Das, and Rifleman Todmal Dnyaneshwar Bhaskarrav.

In response to the incident, mobile internet services were suspended in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir on December 23. Security forces continue to conduct a massive search operation to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent ambush on two Army vehicles, which tragically claimed the lives of five soldiers.
