NYPD Detectives Identify Suspect in Manhattan Stabbing Death of 18-Year-Old College Freshman

NYPD detectives have recently made a breakthrough in the investigation surrounding the murder of 18-year-old Denzel Bimpey, a college freshman from the Bronx. The stabbing occurred in Manhattan’s Flatiron District on December 15 as Bimpey was returning home for Christmas break from SUNY Morrisville. The police have now identified a possible suspect in the case as Thierno Bah, an 18-year-old individual who is wanted for questioning.

The tragic incident unfolded when Bimpey and his friends encountered another group of college students upon their arrival in Syracuse. A verbal dispute ensued, during which the other group, believed to be associated with the Six Block gang from Harlem, mistook Bimpey and his friends as rival Nine Block members. The argument escalated, but it was not until they disembarked from the bus in Manhattan’s Flatiron District that violence erupted.

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, Bimpey and his friends were chased down the street by the other group. Tragically, Bimpey collapsed along Park Ave. South, and the assailants fled the scene in a black SUV. His injuries were severe, with puncture wounds to his chest, shoulder, and forearm. Despite the efforts of the authorities and medical personnel, Bimpey succumbed to his wounds at Bellevue Hospital.

The police have released a photograph of Thierno Bah, the person of interest in the case. Although Bah has no prior criminal history in New York City, he has been linked to the argument that took place on the bus. The authorities have urged anyone who encounters Bah to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline immediately.

During their investigation, the police discovered that the group responsible for the attack on Bimpey and his friends were students from Onondaga Community College, located near SUNY Morrisville. They boarded the same bus in Syracuse, which serves as a common transportation hub for students traveling south. The NYPD has not disclosed the identity of the upstate school that alerted them to Bah’s involvement.

While the investigation remains ongoing, no arrests have been made thus far. Bimpey’s grieving family has emphasized that he was not involved in any gangs and was simply a dedicated college student. They are pleading for anyone with information regarding Bah’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the authorities in their pursuit of justice.

If you have any information regarding Thierno Bah’s location or the incident itself, please contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Rest assured that all calls will be treated as strictly confidential.
