The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has officially identified the individual who tragically passed away on Thursday night while in custody at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

The deceased inmate has been identified as 40-year-old Mauryce Jackson. Tragically, Jackson was pronounced dead at the jail premises around 10:39 p.m. on Thursday, as confirmed by officials.

According to sheriff’s officials, the medical staff at the jail received an urgent call at approximately 10 p.m. regarding an inmate experiencing a severe medical condition. In response, Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service promptly arrived at the facility to provide immediate medical assistance. Despite their best efforts, all attempts to revive Jackson were unfortunately unsuccessful.

In light of this distressing incident, ALEA officials have refrained from disclosing further details, as an ongoing investigation is currently underway. Once the investigation concludes, all findings will be handed over to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for further review and action.
