“Long Beach Crime Spree: Shootings, Stabbing, and Fatal Hit-and-Run Leave One Dead”

Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Long Beach Police Department is currently conducting an active investigation into a series of crimes that occurred within a 12-hour period throughout the city. Several incidents, including shootings, a stabbing, and a fatal hit-and-run, took place in various parts of Long Beach on Thursday night and into Friday morning, according to police officials.

The first incident occurred at 7:38 p.m. on Thursday evening in the 1000 block of Gaviota Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the area in response to a call about shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a male victim who reported that another man had approached him, fired shots, and then fled the scene. Fortunately, the victim was not injured.

Two hours later, at 9:40 p.m., officers responded to another shooting in the same area on Gaviota Avenue. A preliminary investigation suggests that a male adult victim was shot by an unknown suspect or suspects in a light-colored sedan. It is believed that this incident is related to the earlier shots fired call in the same area.

In between these two shootings, two men were targeted by a gunman near the intersection of Polynesian Drive and Lei Drive at around 8:30 p.m. One of the victims was struck in the lower body and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The suspect and the victim were known to each other, but the exact motive for the shooting remains unknown.

At 10:21 p.m., another shooting occurred in the 200 block of Eagle Street, resulting in the fatality of a 28-year-old man identified as Ismael Cuevas. Another man was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting are still under investigation. Just 18 minutes later, a male adult victim walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The location of the shooting is unknown at this time.

At around 11 p.m., a fatal hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Willow Street and Easy Avenue. A female victim was struck by a car traveling westbound on Willow when the collision happened. She was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The suspect and vehicle involved in the hit-and-run have not been identified.

The violence continued into Friday morning when officers responded to a stabbing in the 900 block of Washington Place at 2:45 a.m. A male adult victim suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body during a physical altercation with a male suspect. The suspect, identified as Juan Carlos Nagrete, was apprehended by authorities and faces charges of attempted murder, parole violation, and failure to register as a sex offender.

The final incident occurred at 6:46 a.m. in the 2100 block of Elm Avenue. A man sitting in his car was approached by a male suspect who attempted to enter the vehicle. The suspect revealed a firearm and discharged it towards the victim’s direction, striking the vehicle. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Long Beach Police Department is taking these incidents seriously and is actively working to identify and arrest the individuals responsible. Detectives, officers, and professional staff will continue to follow all leads and investigate each shooting. The department is adjusting its operations to engage with the community, pursue new leads, and prevent further crime.
