Hawaii Beauty Entrepreneur Fatally Shot at Waimalu Shopping Mall

A tragic incident unfolded at Pearlridge Center, a bustling shopping mall in Waimalu, Hawaii, when a well-known beauty entrepreneur, Theresa Cachuela, was fatally shot in front of her 8-year-old daughter. The devastating turn of events revealed that the assailant was none other than her estranged husband, Jason Cachuela, against whom Theresa had filed a restraining order just two weeks prior.

According to reports, the horrifying incident took place on Friday morning. Jason, 44, allegedly shot Theresa, 33, before fleeing the scene. However, his lifeless body was later discovered in Waipahu, where he had taken his own life, as reported by Hawaii News Now.

Theresa Cachuela, a mother of three and the owner of the renowned beauty salon, House of Glam, in Waipahu, had built a substantial online presence as a social media influencer. Her untimely demise has left her family, friends, and loyal followers in a state of shock and grief, as they struggle to come to terms with this tragic loss.

Lucita Ani-Nihoa, Theresa’s mother, revealed that her daughter had recently filed for divorce due to years of abuse and marital problems with Jason, her husband of 11 years. Unfortunately, Jason was unable to accept the end of their relationship and resorted to increasingly dangerous behavior.

Although Jason did not have a criminal record, he possessed firearms and had made multiple threats of violence and suicide. According to Ani-Nihoa, Theresa had diligently reported these incidents to the authorities, expressing her concerns for her own safety and that of her children.

In her desperate attempt to find respite from the torment, Theresa filed a temporary restraining order against her husband on December 8. This legal measure was intended to protect her and her children from further harm. The court had also mandated that Jason surrender his firearms to law enforcement, as per the requirements of the domestic restraining order.

However, the system’s failure to take immediate action has left Theresa’s family and supporters questioning the effectiveness of the legal apparatus. Ani-Nihoa expressed her frustration, stating, “They never arrested him, knowing that he had guns, knowing that he tried to threaten, he threatened to kill the kids and her in her own garage. The court wasn’t there for her. The system failed her and now she’s gone.”

The devastating incident has left Theresa’s youngest daughter traumatized after witnessing her mother’s tragic demise. The impact of this heartbreaking event will undoubtedly have long-lasting effects on the young child’s emotional well-being.
