RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Sheriffs are currently investigating a devastating car crash that occurred in Naoma, West Virginia. The incident resulted in the loss of a life and the apprehension of the driver.

According to authorities, the tragic accident took place yesterday when a man, identified as Timothy Underwood, senior, was driving a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 in a westerly direction along Coal River Road. However, he unexpectedly veered off the right side of the road, colliding with a solid rock wall and two trees before finally coming to a stop in the middle of the road.

Regrettably, the collision claimed the life of the passenger, Jennifer Bowe. She suffered fatal injuries during the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

While Underwood survived the crash, he did sustain minor injuries. Law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation and gather evidence related to the incident.

As a result, he was arrested and now faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) causing death, as well as driving with a revoked license due to a previous DUI offense.
