Ezra Raymond Pouech Obituary News – Jason Gillenwater Death: 30-Year-Old Oakland Man Identified as Victim in Fatal Pacifica Stabbing

The recent tragic incident in Pacifica has left the community in shock and mourning. The local coroner’s office has now released the identity of the victim who lost his life in a double stabbing, which the police have classified as a domestic violence incident. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Ezra Raymond Pouech, a resident of Oakland.

The fatal stabbing took place on Thursday at a residence located in the 200 block of Naomi Avenue. Alongside Ezra, a woman named Nina, whose exact relationship to the victim remains undisclosed, also suffered injuries and is currently receiving medical care at a nearby hospital. The police have not officially revealed the woman’s identity or provided an update on her current health condition.

Tragically, two children were present in the house at the time of the stabbing. However, they have since been removed by family services, ensuring their safety and well-being amidst this devastating incident.

In a shocking development, Jason Gillenwater, a 46-year-old firefighter paramedic with the Colma Fire Suppression District, has been identified as the suspect in this heinous crime. The Pacifica Police Department, in a media release, stated that the suspect vehicle was located by the California Highway Patrol in Mendocino County on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at approximately 1:45 pm.

Regrettably, Gillenwater was found deceased near his vehicle, having succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation has revealed that after the stabbing incident in Pacifica, Gillenwater obtained a firearm in Colusa County. The circumstances surrounding his actions and motivations are still under investigation.

This is not the first time Gillenwater has been involved in a domestic violence incident with the same female victim. On December 14, 2023, at around 9:00 pm, Pacifica Police officers responded to the same residence on Naomi Avenue following a reported domestic violence incident involving Gillenwater and the female victim. Gillenwater was arrested at the scene and subsequently booked at the San Mateo County jail. However, he was able to post bail and was released from custody.

Following the previous incident, the police took immediate action to protect the victim’s safety. They obtained a gun violence emergency protective order, resulting in the seizure of firearms and ammunition from the residence. Additionally, an Emergency Protective Order was obtained, which prohibited Gillenwater from contacting the female victim or approaching the Naomi Avenue residence in Pacifica within a 100-yard radius.

Chief Sarasua expressed deep sadness over this tragedy and extended condolences to the family members and the Pacifica community. The support and collaboration of San Mateo County allied agencies, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol during this investigation have been greatly appreciated.
