Acting swiftly, a male resident of the house successfully apprehended and detained the suspect until law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
Unfamiliar Intruder Identified
Investigations led to the identification of the suspect as David E. Becker, a 56-year-old resident of Marengo. Becker was not known to the homeowners, adding to the mystery and concern surrounding the incident.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the McHenry County Circuit Court, Becker revealed that his intention was to engage in sexual activities with the wife of the homeowner.
Suspect Apprehended and Charged
Without encountering further resistance, law enforcement officials successfully arrested Becker. He now faces charges of residential burglary, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespass to residence.
Judicial Proceedings and Parole Violation
Following his arrest, Becker was transported to the McHenry County Jail after being processed at the Marengo Police Department. It was discovered that Becker had been on work release through the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) due to a prior conviction for aggravated driving under the influence.
As a result of his involvement in the new criminal cases, the IDOC issued a parole violation warrant against Becker. The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain Becker until his trial, citing him as a significant and immediate threat to the community’s safety.
Detention Granted by the Court
McHenry County Judge Michael Chmiel granted the petition and ordered Becker’s immediate remand to the McHenry County Jail. This decision serves to ensure the safety of the community and the proper handling of the ongoing legal process.
Upcoming Court Hearing
A status of attorney hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday to address further legal proceedings related to Becker’s case.
