Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Hillsborough County, Florida

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — In the early hours of Saturday morning, a dramatic high-speed chase ended in the arrest of a 22-year-old man who had fled from law enforcement officials in Hillsborough County, Florida.

The pursuit began at approximately 1:40 a.m. when a Florida Highway Patrol trooper observed a small white sedan, driven by Christian Bernard Joinville, speeding through the intersection of US-41 and Gibsonton Road at an alarming rate of 100 mph.

A Hillsborough County deputy, driving an unmarked SUV with emergency lights activated, immediately initiated a pursuit of Joinville on south US-41. Shortly thereafter, the trooper joined in the chase to provide assistance, as stated in the affidavit.

Realizing he was being pursued, Joinville made a desperate attempt to evade capture. He turned off his car lights and began weaving in and out of traffic, endangering the lives of other drivers on the road.

In a brave and skillful move, the trooper executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, successfully bringing the fleeing sedan to a halt.





Following his arrest, Joinville is now facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, as well as the charge of fleeing to elude at a high speed, according to the affidavit.
