Delaware State Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Mcy Modestin for Harrington Burglary

HARRINGTON, Del. – Delaware State Police have apprehended 20-year-old Mcy Modestin of Federalsburg, Maryland, in connection with a burglary that took place on Thursday evening in Harrington.

On the evening of December 21, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., troopers promptly responded to a residence on Genesis Lane in Harrington, following a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the suspect, identified as Mcy Mondestin, inside the home, and he was apprehended without any resistance. The investigation revealed that Mondestin unlawfully entered the residence of an elderly victim while she was asleep. The victim, who woke up upon hearing the sound of Mondestin breaking in, managed to hide from him and alert the authorities by dialing 9-1-1. Mondestin eventually discovered the victim’s hiding place in the living room, forcibly removed her from it, and made statements suggesting that the residence belonged to him before leaving the room. This allowed the victim to contact 9-1-1 again. Fortunately, the police arrived at the scene just as Mondestin returned to the room.

Following his arrest, Mondestin was transported to Troop 3, where he was formally charged with Burglary First Degree, a felony offense, as well as Offensive Touching. He appeared before Justice of the Peace Court 7 for arraignment and was subsequently remanded to the custody of the Sussex Correctional Institution, held on a secured bond amounting to $15,100.
