ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with the Fullerton Police Department and the Orange County district attorney’s office, has revealed the dismantling of an extensive crime ring allegedly responsible for a series of residential burglaries across Orange County. The investigation, which began after the discovery of three home burglaries in Yorba Linda and Santa Ana in September 2022, has now expanded to include crimes in Anaheim, Fullerton, Laguna Beach, and other cities in the county.
Over 20 Indictments and Multiple Arrests
Following a year-long investigation, a total of 20 individuals have been indicted, with nine arrests made on Wednesday. The authorities have revealed that the “main players” in the crime ring were among those apprehended, while 11 suspects remain at large. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Fullerton Police Department, and the Orange County district attorney’s office have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the affected communities.
Safety and Security Shattered
District Attorney Todd Spitzer expressed his concerns about the impact of these crimes on the community, stating, “Our homes should be where we feel our safest. That sense of safety and security has been shattered by organized crime rings who are breaking into our homes to take cash, jewelry, guns, and cars, and selling these stolen goods for whatever they can get for it.”
Extensive Criminal Network
The investigation linked the suspects, who allegedly had connections to Los Angeles-based gangs, to a total of 34 residential burglaries, one commercial burglary, and a conspiracy to commit burglaries across Orange County. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department handled 18 cases, while the Fullerton Police Department took the lead on 19.
Burglaries Targeted High-Value Items
Most of the burglaries occurred during the day, with the suspects gaining entry by smashing back doors of the residences. The stolen items primarily included high-value items such as jewelry, handbags, and cash. In one case, the suspects managed to steal a Range Rover, which was later recovered and returned to the victim.
Arrests and Search Warrants
On Wednesday, SWAT teams from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Torrance Police Department, and the FBI executed search warrants at four locations in Los Angeles County. As a result, nine arrests were made, including five juveniles. The adult suspects have been identified as Deautri Hamilton, Jesus Alberto Guerra, Javier Guerrero, Michael Jason Serrano, Tyrell Benyon Haley, Nathaniel Eric Roberts, Jeris Je Young Abalos, Tahj Kamare Richardson, Keven Von Claudell Holland, Kadin Isaiah Williams, Jamari Nijie Devon Manning, Quaion Jayvion McClendon, Deion Robert Franklin, Mika Mark McGee, and Joshua Jeremiah Rivas.
Charges and Potential Penalties
The suspects have been charged with felony offenses, including first- and second-degree burglary, grand theft auto, and conspiracy. If convicted, they could face sentences ranging from six to more than 28 years in state prison.
