Teen in Custody Following death of 18-Year-Old Woman in Fridley

A teenager is currently under arrest and awaiting potential charges in connection with the death of an 18-year-old woman in Fridley, Minnesota.

On Thursday, the quiet town of Fridley was shaken by a tragic incident that initially appeared to be a pedestrian hit-and-run. However, authorities soon discovered that the victim, identified as 18-year-old Jayden Lee Kline, had actually been shot.

According to Tierney Peters, a spokesperson for the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Fridley police and paramedics rushed to the 4500 block of 3rd St. NE after receiving reports of a hit-and-run crash. Upon arrival, they found Jayden Lee Kline critically injured. Despite their efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at a local hospital. It was determined that she had sustained a gunshot wound.

Following the tragic incident, investigators from the Fridley Police Department and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office launched a search for the perpetrator. Later that evening, they located a 17-year-old boy believed to be connected to the crime and took him into custody. As of Friday morning, formal charges had not yet been filed against the suspect.

The case remains under investigation by the Fridley PD and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of Jayden Lee Kline’s death.
