Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 22-Year-Old in St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis were left in shock and disbelief on Tuesday following the tragic shooting that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. The victim, identified as Glenville “Short Boss” Syder of Buckley’s, was found dead on an old road, sending waves of grief throughout the local community.

Samal Duggins, the Cabinet Minister and Parliament Representative, expressed his deep sadness and concern over the incident, emphasizing that there is no place for violence in the country.

Duggins, who also represents the Challengers and New Guinea Community, assured that the police have initiated a thorough investigation to apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous crime.

According to reports, Syder was discovered lying lifeless on the side of the road, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Medical officials were called to the scene but sadly pronounced the victim dead.

This tragic incident marks the 30th murder in St Kitts for the year 2023, leaving the community leaders and citizens in a state of dismay.

Duggins described the incident as one that has deeply shaken the entire constituency. He emphasized that the authorities are actively working to address the rising trend of violence.

“I extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Glenville Syder. In this time of grief, we stand united with you, sharing in your pain and loss,” said Minister Duggins, expressing his heartfelt sympathies.

Strongly condemning the act, Minister Duggins reiterated that violence has no place in the community and urged everyone, within and beyond the constituency, to reflect on the devastating impact of such incidents.

“We will explore every possible avenue to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens,” he added.

He called for unity and collective effort to promote peace, emphasizing that the future of the community relies on their ability to care for one another, resolve conflicts peacefully, and cherish every life.
