New Details Emerge in Investigation of Deadly Shooting in Covington County, Mississippi

COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – Covington County Sheriff Darrell Perkins has recently provided additional information regarding the investigation into a tragic shooting incident that occurred last month in Covington County, Mississippi.

The incident took place on November 25th during a dog fighting event held on private land in the Jones Chapel community. However, the identity of the landowner where the shooting occurred has not been disclosed by the sheriff’s office.

The victims of the shooting have been identified as 25-year-old D’Andre Ducksworth and 27-year-old Reshun Goudy, both residents of Collins. Sheriff Perkins stated that both men sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

In remembrance of Ducksworth and Goudy, their family members and friends organized a candlelight vigil on December 1st to honor their lives.

The investigation into this tragic incident involves the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI). Authorities believe that individuals from various parts of the state and even different parts of the country were in attendance at the dog fighting event.

Sheriff Perkins revealed that approximately 50 to 60 people were present at the event when the shooting took place. As a result, law enforcement officials are working diligently to interview as many individuals as possible to gather vital information.

Perkins remarked, “I understand there were people from more than just Mississippi there. There were other people there. We’re getting names every week. We’re interviewing people in different parts of the state, different parts of the country. It may be over the phone, it may be in person.”

The Covington County Sheriff’s Office has made progress in the investigation by examining cell phone records and utilizing other technological sources. However, no weapons have been confiscated at this stage of the investigation.
