The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for any information regarding the disappearance of Mayushi Bhagat, a 29-year-old female student from India who went missing from her apartment in New Jersey more than four years ago. Bhagat was last seen on April 29, 2019, leaving her apartment wearing “colourful pyjama pants and a black T-shirt”.

The family of Mayushi Bhagat reported her missing on May 1, 2019. The FBI Newark Field Office and the Jersey City Police Department are actively seeking the public’s assistance in solving the mystery surrounding her disappearance. In July last year, Bhagat’s name was added to the list of “missing persons” by the authorities.

In an effort to locate Mayushi Bhagat, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that can lead to her location or recovery. The FBI has urged anyone with information about Bhagat, her whereabouts, or her disappearance to contact either the FBI Newark or the Jersey City Police Department.

“They could receive a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to her location or recovery,” stated the FBI last week.

Background of Mayushi Bhagat

Mayushi Bhagat was born in July 1994 in India and had come to the United States on a student visa to pursue her education at the New York Institute of Technology. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, Bhagat had friends in South Plainfield, New Jersey, according to detectives. She is described as 5’10” with black hair and brown eyes. Bhagat arrived in the United States in 2016 on an F1 student visa. The FBI has included her missing poster on its “Most Wanted” page under the category of “kidnapping/missing persons”.

Tragic Incident of Another Missing Indian Student

In a separate incident in the United Kingdom, a missing Indian student named Gurashman Singh Bhatia was found dead in a lake in the Canary Wharf area of east London. The Metropolitan Police in the UK appealed for information to piece together the events leading to Bhatia’s demise. The 23-year-old had been reported missing after a night out with friends on December 14. The police conducted extensive investigations, including the review of CCTV footage, interviews with witnesses, and analysis of phone and financial data. Eventually, police divers discovered a body believed to be that of Bhatia in the water in South Quay.
