Marshall Domestic Disturbance: Victim and Suspect Fatally Shot by Police

Authorities Reveal Shocking Details of Tragic Incident

Marshall, Minn. – In a devastating turn of events, authorities have released further information regarding a weekend domestic disturbance that resulted in the tragic death of the victim and the suspect being fatally shot by police.

The incident unfolded on Sunday morning when a Marshall police officer responded to a distress call. Upon arrival, the officer, identified as Eric Klenken, discovered 41-year-old Jamel C. Hill Moore, of Marshall, on top of 35-year-old Meredith Martell, stabbing her relentlessly.

Martell, who suffered from multiple sharp-force injuries, was rushed to a Sioux Falls, S.D., hospital, but sadly succumbed to her wounds. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her cause of death.

Officer Klenken, a seasoned law enforcement professional with 24 years of experience, was forced to take action to protect Martell’s life. He first attempted to subdue Moore by deploying his Taser. However, when this proved ineffective, Klenken resorted to using his handgun, eventually shooting Moore twice.

Following the incident, three additional officers and a Lyon County sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene to provide assistance. They joined Klenken in administering medical aid to both Moore and Martell. Unfortunately, Moore was pronounced dead at the scene, while Martell fought for her life until Sunday night.

Remarkably, neither Klenken nor the children present in the home suffered any physical injuries during the incident.

BCA Investigation and Body Camera Footage

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. BCA crime scene personnel recovered two knives at the scene, which will be crucial evidence in determining the circumstances surrounding the domestic disturbance.

Moreover, Officer Klenken was wearing his body camera throughout the entire response. BCA agents are diligently reviewing the video footage as part of the ongoing investigation. Once the investigation is concluded, the BCA will submit its findings to the Lyon County Attorney’s Office without any charging recommendation.
