HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man is being charged for the tragic death of a 9-month-old baby after he collided with a water treatment facility in southwest Houston, according to local authorities.

The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday when law enforcement officers responded to a crash involving an Infinity SUV and two other vehicles at 12300 Almeda Road. Following the crash, law enforcement officers attempted to detain Washington. However, he displayed aggressive behavior by lunging at the officers and attempting to seize their firearms. Eventually, with the assistance of courageous citizens who intervened, the officers were able to apprehend Washington. Subsequently, he was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Inside the SUV, two young girls aged 13 and 8 were also found. They were immediately taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries sustained during the collision.

Charles Washington now faces charges of manslaughter and attempting to disarm a police officer.
