Two Suspects Charged in York County Shooting Death of Devin Zeigler
Kamron Dowsey, 20, and Shy’Dell Griffith, 22, have been identified as the suspects involved in the tragic shooting death of 24-year-old Devin Zeigler in York County, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on May 5, 2022, and investigators believe that a third individual was also involved in the crime.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the West Manchester Township Police Department received a report of a shooting at the Auto Spa Express on May 5 at 12:55 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Devin Zeigler in serious condition with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Zeigler succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The West Manchester Police have identified Kamron Dowsey and Shy’Dell Griffith as two of the suspects involved in the killing, with a third suspect yet to be named. Dowsey has been charged with multiple offenses, including criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy-homicide, criminal attempted homicide, and aggravated assault. He is currently being held at York County Prison. An arrest warrant has been issued for Griffith, who is currently on the run. Griffith has been charged with criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy-homicide.
Video surveillance obtained from The Auto Spa Express revealed that a white Kia sedan with tinted windows, driven by Dowsey, backed into a free vacuum parking spot. Shortly after, a gray Mazda CX-5 crossover-style car parked beside the Kia. Zeigler, the victim, exited his Mazda and engaged in a conversation with a customer vacuuming a black 2010 Volkswagen Routan minivan. Zeigler then parked his Mazda on the other side of the business, alongside the individual he had just spoken with.
The surveillance footage captured three men dressed in dark clothing exiting the white Kia sedan. These men had their faces covered and were armed with handguns. Two of the men approached the individual at the Volkswagen minivan, while the third approached Zeigler at the Mazda CX-5. As they got closer, the three men opened fire, resulting in Zeigler’s untimely death and injuring the driver of the Volkswagen, who was shot in the leg.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Dowsey’s phone records and location data, which placed him in the vicinity of the car at the time of the shooting. The phone records also revealed an order placed to a nearby pizza place, within walking distance of where the white Kia was later found abandoned.
Witness testimonies further implicated Dowsey in the crime. One witness overheard a conversation between Dowsey and his mother, where Dowsey allegedly admitted to being “involved in a shooting” and having “shot someone.” Another witness claimed to have overheard Dowsey telling his sister, “That killing at the carwash, that was us.”
Investigators believe that Dowsey and Griffith intentionally targeted Zeigler as part of gang-related activity. West Manchester Police Detective Matthew DeWitt stated that a bounty of $30,000 was placed on Zeigler’s life. DeWitt added, “Mr. Zeigler was a victim of a targeted hit because he was believed to hang out with one side of the city that was hated by those who killed him on that day.”
