Two individuals have been apprehended and charged in connection with a distressing home invasion incident that occurred in Statesboro. The incident took place at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday at The Vault Apartments situated on Statesboro Place Circle.

Violent Encounter

Upon the immediate arrival of officers from the Statesboro Police Department (SPD), they discovered shell casings, bloodstains, and evident damage to the apartment. The tenants residing in the apartment informed investigators that a masked man, accompanied by two women, forcibly entered their home. A physical altercation unfolded between one of the tenants and the intruder, prompting the tenant to use their legally owned handgun in self-defense. The tenant successfully shot the suspect, causing non-life-threatening injuries. Following the shooting, the suspects hastily fled the scene, while the tenants promptly contacted emergency services by dialing 911.

SPD detectives were also present at the hospital to interview the couple.
