(WOWT) – Authorities in Omaha, Nebraska have identified the victim of a tragic ambulance crash that occurred near the Douglas County line on Thursday morning. Debra Brookhouser, a 72-year-old resident of Gretna, sadly lost her life at the scene of the three-vehicle collision at the intersection of 204th and Harrison streets. The ambulance involved in the crash was responding to an emergency, with lights and sirens activated, on its way to a hospital.

The devastating incident also left four other individuals injured, one of whom is in critical condition. According to an update provided by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, a 17-year-old boy from Omaha was driving a Toyota Tundra that was involved in the collision. The teenager was transported from the scene by ambulance and remains in an extremely critical condition, as reported.

The crash not only impacted the victims inside the vehicles but also affected members of the Gretna Volunteer Fire Department. Three individuals from the department, including an assistant chief aged 42 and a 58-year-old firefighter, were injured and subsequently released from the hospital. The department’s chief, aged 62, who was driving the ambulance, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The collision had a significant impact on traffic, leading to the closure of northbound 204th Street for several hours. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather all necessary information.
