A South Carolina father and son accused of killing their neighbor, who they claim was armed with a machete, have been granted bond and released from jail, as reported by a local media outlet.

Ryan Jordan Lindler Sr. and his son, Ryan Jordan Lindler Jr., were recently released on a $150,000 bond by a judge in Lexington County. To secure their release, they had to pay at least 10% of the bond amount.

As a condition of their bond, Circuit Judge Walton J. McLeod, IV, imposed house arrest with GPS ankle monitors on both Ryan and Jordan Lindler.

Under the bond agreement, Ryan and Jordan are permitted to carry out essential activities such as managing their cattle farm, attending church, visiting doctors, and meeting with their attorneys. However, they must maintain a minimum distance of 300 yards from Kevin Newhouse’s residence, the individual they allegedly shot.

According to prosecutors and investigators involved in the case, the incident unfolded on December 6 when Jordan Lindler received a security system alert while working on one of the family’s properties. The security camera footage revealed Kevin Newhouse holding a machete.

In response to the alert, Ryan and Jordan Lindler separately drove to Newhouse’s home, intending to confront him. This information was disclosed during the bond hearing on December 14, as documented by the Columbia Post and Courier.

The exact details of the altercation that followed are disputed between local prosecutors and the Lindlers. However, it is alleged that Ryan and Jordan fired multiple shots at Newhouse. The Lindlers claim that Newhouse swung the machete at them, while prosecutors rely on a witness’s account stating that Ryan instructed Jordan to shoot.

Luke Pincelli, an assistant solicitor for the 11th Judicial Circuit, stated, “That’s why Ryan is also charged with murder. Because he follows Mr. Newhouse to his property, confronts him and tells his son to shoot,” as reported by the Post and Courier.

Investigators have confirmed that Newhouse was unarmed at the time of the shooting. He sustained at least one gunshot wound to the head.
