The suspect, Kenyon Nesbitt, was taken into custody on Wednesday after being extradited from Pennsylvania, where he was serving time for an unrelated offense. He now faces murder charges for allegedly shooting 35-year-old Kenneth Murphy in the head. The tragic incident occurred while Murphy was seated inside a parked Nissan Altima near the intersection of Sutphin Blvd. and Tuskegee Airmen Way in Jamaica.

Law enforcement officials believe that Nesbitt and Murphy were in the midst of a drug transaction when the shooting unfolded. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Murphy deceased at approximately 2:50 p.m. on that fateful day.

Nesbitt, who was residing in Brooklyn at the time, was later identified as the gunman. Following Murphy’s death, Nesbitt fled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was subsequently arrested for an unrelated offense and sentenced to prison. Further details about the Pennsylvania case are currently unavailable.

After extensive investigation, detectives located Nesbitt at Pennsylvania’s State Correctional Institution-Huntingdon and initiated the extradition process to bring him back to New York for prosecution.
