OAKLAND — In a shocking turn of events, a city resident has been charged with murder and arson in connection with a disturbing incident that unfolded on September 15. According to court records, Gerome Lamb, a 44-year-old Oakland resident, is accused of pouring accelerant onto an occupied parked car, setting it ablaze, and fleeing the scene. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Ardany Martin, tragically lost his life in the incident.

The Tragic Death of Ardany Martin
The incident occurred in a parking lot located in the 1400 block of 35th Avenue. Martin was inside a Honda SRV when he became the target of this heinous act. An unidentified assailant poured an accelerant into a partially opened window of the vehicle, ignited it, and swiftly disappeared. The flames engulfed the car, causing Martin to suffer severe burns. Despite immediate medical attention, Martin succumbed to his injuries later that day at a local hospital.
Arrest and Investigation Update
Following a thorough investigation, authorities arrested Gerome Lamb on November 1. However, the police have not disclosed the details of how Lamb was identified as a suspect, nor have they revealed a possible motive for the crime. Lamb, maintaining his innocence, has entered a plea of not guilty. Currently, he is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, awaiting a preliminary hearing.
