Toronto Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Fatal Stabbing of Mexican Citizen

Toronto police have recently apprehended a 35-year-old man from Toronto in connection with the tragic stabbing incident that resulted in the death of a Mexican citizen in North York. The authorities have upgraded the charges against the suspect to second-degree murder.

Stabbing Occurrence and Immediate Response

The incident took place in the early hours of December 2nd within a residence located in the vicinity of Bayview Avenue and Highway 401. At approximately 4:30 a.m., law enforcement received an urgent call reporting a stabbing at the scene.

Identity of the Victim

The victim has been identified as Juan Carlos Gomez Salgado, a 46-year-old Mexican national. Following the attack, Salgado was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, as his injuries were deemed life-threatening.

Tragically, despite receiving immediate medical attention, Salgado’s condition deteriorated, and he sadly succumbed to his injuries on December 11.

Arrest and Charges

Following the incident, the suspect initially fled the scene in an attempt to evade authorities. However, he later returned and was promptly arrested by the police. Initially, the suspect faced charges of assault, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.

Upgraded Charge: Second-Degree Murder
