Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Road Rage Shooting in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — Marcial Cardenas Pineda, the man responsible for a road rage shooting incident in Fairfield two years ago, has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison, according to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office. The incident, which occurred on September 12, 2021, left the victim unharmed but terrified.
On the night of the incident, a woman called 911 to report that she and another driver had been shot at while driving on Interstate 80. The victim stated that they encountered an individual, later identified as Marcial Cardenas Pineda, driving recklessly in a dark-colored SUV. Moments later, Pineda exited the freeway and fired a single shot at the victim before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officers were able to locate and apprehend Pineda in a parking lot near Beck Street and Cadenasso Drive. Upon further investigation, police discovered a bullet lodged in the victim’s steering wheel, narrowly missing them. Additionally, a Glock pistol and spent casing were recovered from Pineda’s SUV the day after the shooting.

In November, Pineda was found guilty of multiple charges, including shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
The sentencing took place on December 15, 2021, where Pineda received a 10-year prison term. The Solano County District Attorney’s Office emphasized the severity of the crime and the potential harm it could have caused.
