“Man Arrested in Salisbury Drug Operation: James Alexander Blount Faces Multiple Charges”

SALISBURY – An individual has been arrested following an extensive investigation conducted by law enforcement officials, involving undercover operations, on suspicions of drug trafficking.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office initiated the inquiry back in October, prompted by the belief that the individual was involved in the illegal sale of narcotics, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. Over the course of the investigation, undercover deputies from the SIU conducted a series of covert drug purchases in the parking lot of Hendrix Barbecue, situated on Salisbury Avenue in Spencer.

On November 15, undercover deputies reportedly acquired 10 dosage units of Oxycodone, along with 1.1 grams of crushed Oxycodone. Additionally, on November 30, they obtained 17 dosage units of Oxycodone. Subsequently, law enforcement officials terminated the undercover operation and apprehended the suspect on December 5. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was also found to be in possession of an additional 30 dosage units of Oxycodone, as well as one gram of marijuana. The arrest was carried out by personnel from the SIU and the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team.

Identified as 29-year-old James Alexander Blount, the suspect now faces charges including two counts of sale and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver, as well as possession of a schedule VI controlled substance. Blount has been placed in the Rowan County Detention Center, with bail set at $20,000.
