Hot Springs Woman Arrested for Shooting Incident and Drug Charges

A woman from Hot Springs has been taken into custody on Wednesday following an alleged shooting incident that left a man injured. The Garland County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the incident, resulting in the arrest of Tera Renee Hanley, a 42-year-old resident of 160 Bill House Trail.

Hanley is facing multiple charges, including second-degree domestic battery, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Additionally, she was arrested for simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, a charge that can lead to life imprisonment. Other charges include possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of firearms by certain persons, maintaining a drug premises, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

As of Thursday, Hanley remains in custody without bond and is scheduled to appear in Garland County District Court today.

Shooting Incident and Investigation

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Thursday providing details about the shooting incident. According to the statement, sheriff’s deputies received a call regarding a shooting off Bill House Trail at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound.

Sergeant John Schroeder confirmed that the victim, a 39-year-old male, had been shot in the leg. At the time, Schroeder stated that the investigation was ongoing, and authorities were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The statement mentioned that immediate medical assistance was provided to the injured man by the responding deputies. LifeNet, an emergency medical service, also arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for further treatment.

Arrest and Charges

Following the shooting incident, the Criminal Investigators and the 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force took over the investigation. The authorities identified Tera Hanley as the suspect in the case and subsequently arrested her on multiple felony charges.

The news release stated that Hanley, aged 42, was charged with offenses such as simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, as well as second-degree domestic battery. These charges are among several others that she is facing.

Court records reveal that Hanley had previously been convicted in Garland County on January 7, 2020, for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. As a result, she was sentenced to four years’ supervised probation.
